Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026

This page explains the cookies our website uses, what they do, and how you can control them. We try to keep the language plain. If anything is unclear, please contact us.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. Some cookies are needed for the site to work (for example, to keep you logged in or to protect against form-submission attacks). Other cookies are used to measure how the site is used or to power advertising. We treat those two groups very differently.

The two categories we use

1. Strictly necessary cookies (always on)

These cookies are required for the site to function. They do not track you across other websites and they are not used for advertising. We do not ask permission for them, because the site cannot work without them.

  • Session cookie — keeps your visit consistent as you move between pages and, if you sign in, keeps you signed in.
  • CSRF token — a security token that prevents another website from submitting a form on your behalf.
  • Remember-me — set only if you check "Remember me" at sign-in, so you do not have to sign in again on your next visit.
  • cookieconsent_status — records your choice (accept or decline) so we do not show the banner again on every page. This is the cookie that records your consent itself.

2. Analytics & marketing cookies (off by default)

These cookies are not set unless you click Accept on the cookie banner. Until you accept, none of the third-party tags below load and no analytics or advertising cookies are placed.

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — measures how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on page, basic device information). Provided by Google. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Tag Manager (GTM) — the container we use to load the tags above. GTM by itself does not set analytics or advertising cookies; it only loads the tags you have allowed. Google Privacy Policy.
  • TikTok Pixel — used for measuring the performance of TikTok ads and for showing relevant ads on TikTok. Provided by TikTok. TikTok Privacy Policy.

How to accept, decline, or change your mind

When you first visit the site, a banner appears at the bottom of the page with two buttons:

  • Accept — analytics and marketing cookies are turned on.
  • Decline — only the strictly necessary cookies above are set.

To change your choice later, clear the cookieconsent_status cookie in your browser settings (instructions below). The banner will reappear on your next visit and you can pick again.

Browser controls

You can also block or delete cookies directly from your browser. Each browser is a little different — search your browser's help for "manage cookies":

Blocking strictly necessary cookies in your browser may stop parts of the site from working (for example, signing in or submitting a form).

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal. Because our analytics and marketing cookies are off by default until you explicitly click Accept, our default behavior already matches what those signals ask for. You do not have to enable a browser signal to opt out — declining the banner is enough.

For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you accept the cookie banner, the TikTok Pixel may share information about your visit with TikTok for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under California law, this can be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.

You can opt out of this sharing by clicking Decline on the cookie banner — that is the entire opt-out mechanism, and it requires no further action from you. If you have already accepted and want to change your mind, follow the "How to accept, decline, or change your mind" section above.
